Australian Architecture | Melbourne & Ballarat, Victoria| Personal Project | February 2026

Australian cities are a striking study in architectural contrast, where ornate Victorian and Georgian colonial buildings sit alongside grand Art Deco facades from the 1920s and 30s. This layered history provides a rich backdrop for the contemporary glass towers and award-winning modern architecture that have come to define skylines in Sydney, Melbourne, and beyond. As a dual citizen and former resident, the beauty and contrast of these buildings gradually became part of the everyday backdrop. On a recent trip, a day of shooting in Melbourne and an afternoon in Ballarat brought that appreciation back into focus.
